Local Businesses

You cannot go to a town and NOT find local businesses! They are the backbone of any city, town, or society. They help employ and they start dreams. Small businesses give all that surrounds them something unique and heartfelt. A mom and pop store provides quality products, a unique find, and you support the community in the process! In the Eastern Panhandle, we have a ton of local businesses. They thrive in the downtown areas of Charles Town, Martinsburg, and Harpers Ferry. Over the years, Martinsburg has worked hard to rebuild its downtown area. Now, the area is ripe with new businesses. All cities drive tons of visitors for shopping in the warmer months. Firstly, Charles Town's downtown area has a mix of local dining, shopping, hair shops, and boutiques. All of the shops are within walking distance. There is paid street parking or municipal lots nearby. Conversely, Charles Town may have lots of shops, but some seem to be duplicates. There are multiple of the same type of shop. Secondly, Harpers Ferry is different as it is on a hill and parking is scarce. To avoid hunting for parking you're best bet is the Visitors Center. The center is located prior to venturing down the hill into Harper Ferry. It is $20 per car load and you can leave your car parked for up to three days. Also keep the receipt as that serves as your parking pass. Harpers Ferry has shuttle services down to the "Lower Town" where the shopping and sightseeing is.
