Things to do on a Rainy Day☔

Hello April Showers. Don’t let a rainy day get you down! We’ve got some great ideas to keep you and you’re family entertained on the dreary days this spring. Check out these indoor ideas and local activities to make the best out of  a day lacking sunshine. 

1.Bake something new

Take time on a rainy day to break out the baking utensils. Brownies, cookies, cakes and pies… who wouldn’t want to spend a day making and eating mouth watering sweet treats? We’ve pinned tons of delicious desserts on our ERA Liberty Realty Pinterest board to give you some good recipes to try out. 

We Know baking is not for everyone, but this doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a rainy day filled with yummy treats. There are plenty of bakeries in the area that have an abundance of dessert options that will be perfect for your rainy day sweet tooth cravings.

• Royalicious
• The Sweet Tooth Bakery 

2. In-Person/ Online escape room

An escape room is a great activity for your family to enjoy. Go test out your ability to escape  these virtual reality/traditional escape rooms and virtual reality laser tag in Harpers Ferry, WV @ Rations Spaceport.  With the escape room being located in such a historical area…of course they created an escape room to test out your Harpers Ferry knowledge. Participate in the John Brown escape room and see just how much you payed attention in history class.

3. Indoor camping

While camping is typically an outdoor activity, take advantage of a rainy day and try indoor camping!  You can bring your tent inside or make a fort out of blankets, pillows, chairs, and the couch. Get creative! Of course you can’t have a fire inside but there are plenty of inside camping activities you can do. For example, instead or roasting marshmallows for s’mores try out this s’mores casserole to give your indoor camping a more realistic feel.

4. Go indoor roller/ice skating

Pull out the knee pads and skates and head to the rink! If the rainy day happens to fall on a Saturday or Sunday head over to Galaxy Skate land in Martinsburg, WV. If your rainy day falls on another day go check out Winchester Skating and Family Fun Center in Winchester, VA. We know it’s getting warmer outside so, if you want something cooler and decide ice skating is the way to go, you’ll want to travel over to Hagerstown Ice and Sports Complex to chill out. 

5. Catch a new movie at the local theaters.

Get some popcorn, a soda, some sweet treats, and enjoy a good flick! Berkeley Plaza Theatre in Martinsburg, WV is a great movie theater to go to if you’re wanting to get more bang for your buck. However, there are plenty of movie theaters that you can visit to enjoy your movie choice.

The Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, VA is just a short trip on I81 but if you’re looking for a movie and dinner together this is definitely the choice for you. They have a menu filled with delicious items such as pizza, fried pickles, sandwiches, popcorn, milkshakes, cookies, etc. The best part is…you can enjoy all of this deliciousness while watching the movie!

6. Skyzone indoor activities

If you’re looking to get into something more active you’ll most definitely want to visit Hagerstown, MD to enjoy their Skyzone activities. The Skyzone has trampoline basketball, dodge ball, foam zone, sky jousting, free climbing, ninja warrior course, and parkour blox. This would be a great activity for kids and parents to enjoy together!

7. Bowling

The Eastern Panhandle and surrounding areas have some great bowling alleys to keep you entertained on a rainy day. Go get your strikes at:

• Pikeside Bowl– Martinsburg, WV
• Northside Lanes– Winchester, VA
• Turner Bowling Center Dual Lanes-Hagerstown, MD
