It is impossible to travel to a town or city and not find small or local businesses! Small shops are everywhere! They are the backbone of communities and are the building blocks for potentially larger business (just look at Amazon). They help employ and they start dreams. Small businesses give all that surrounds them something unique and heartfelt. A mom and pop store provides quality products, a unique find, and you support the community by giving them business in the process!
Firstly, in the Eastern Panhandle, we have a ton of local businesses. They thrive in the downtown areas of Charles Town, Martinsburg, Berkeley Springs, and Harpers Ferry. Over the years, each of these locales have worked hard to grow their downtown area. Now, the areas are ripe with new businesses. All cities drive tons of visitors for shopping, sight seeing, and potentially to call their new home.
Generally, the areas mentioned above are just the largest downtown areas in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. All towns over three counties have small businesses of their own. They consist of ultra local food stops, crafting stores, consignment shops, beauty parlors, and more. You just have to know where to look! ERA Liberty blogs about all of these places. Check back in the Local Businesses section for more highlights on local stops that anyone passing by should know about!
